Himalayan Black Bear

Himalayan black bear are found in the temperate forests at elevations between 1200 and 3700m.It has long black fur with a distinct white patch on the chest in a crescent shape. It can grow up to 7 ft in height and prefer to live in steep forested hills. They are carnivorous which include small mammals, birds, fish and carcasses. They also feed on grass, fruits, berries, seeds, insects and honey. In winter they feed on nuts. They are reported to be very aggressive towards humans with numerous records of attacks and killings.
