Chandertal

Chandertal

Chandertal is pristine Glacier Lake 4,270m above sea level which makes it an enduring attraction for trekkers and tourists. Situated 100 km away from the Rohtang Pass and 6 km from the Kunzam pass that connects Spiti and Lahaul, the half a sq km wide blue water lake is the source of the river Chandra. According to some this is also the spot from where the chariot of the god Indra took the eldest Pandava brother Yudhishtra to heaven in his mortal form. Surrounded by magnificent peaks covered with glaciers and green meadows, the lake offers an ethereal experience during the summer months with its ice-cold and crystal clear water frequently changing its structure according to the clouds in the sky.
