Mandvi is a medieval, picturesque town surrounded by orchards of coconut, date and mango and known for craft making industry. The Mandvi creek affords plenty of opportunities for bird watching and observing the local craftsmen make cargo vessels. The town’s historical importance can be seen from the fact that navigators from the Mandvi coast known as lascars were reputed in Europe for their sea faring ability.Mandvi boasts of seven km long beach which is the private property of the Maharao of Kutch.The Mandvi has been principal town of the Maharaos of Kutch,the leading house of the Jadeja Rajputs for over four centauries. The Mandvi beach camp offers excellent Indian and continental cuisine and the tented rooms with luxurious bathrooms. Traditional Kutchi embroidery work can be seen in villages nearby. There are also sprawling 72 Jinalaya Jain temples on Mandvi’s outskirts.
