At a height of 1100 m Saputara is at the summit of the Dang hill range which is covered with peaks looking out of verdant forests. This little-known hill station located amid the jungles of the Sahyadari range offers robust natural beauty.Saputara overlooks Maharashtra’s Nashik district with the Nashik pilgrimage center just 80 km away. Also close by are a variety of historical and religious sites in Nashik district. The hill station has a beautiful lake apart from some gardens affording a stunning view of the valleys below.Dang district has been ruled by five tribal chieftains since before Independence. The unique Dangi tribal culture is symbolized by distinct dances and musical instruments like the Pawri and shown in annual Dang Darbar festival. The virgin and dense jungles at Mahal are worth exploring.
